It is now understood that DNA Bangalore has collected more than Rs. 3 crores as part of advance subscription from the prospective readers in Bangalore alone. Butthe newspaper is yet to be launched. Now, it has retrenched several hundred employees who actually worked to get these subscription amount. Now, these jobless are fighing back to get justice. Who will deliver justice is a big question mark. I am investigating the issue further. But there seems to be a huge gap between what DNA has promised and what reality. Here is a poster by the DNA protestors / job losers.
My question is : will the one lakh subscribers ( each of them have given Rs. 300 towards annual subscription of DNA) stand against the delay?
I have also understood that now DNA is trying to get the same advance amount from paper hawkers!! Double subscription for the unborn newspaper!!! The hawkers need to pay the advance monthly amount, then distribute, then queue up at DNA office to get back their money!! Blatant and unheard in the media history.
Whether DNA makes good journalism or not, it has already becoming a laughing stock and creating ridiculous news among the media fraternity. The situation has indirectly helped TOI to spread its clout in the city. TOI is getting credit for DNA’s own follies and failures.
Readers, if you have paid Rs. 300 for DNA, then please take back the amount. I strongly doubt the launching of DNA in Bangalore.
