ನಾನಾಜಿ ದೇಶಮುಖ್ ಇನ್ನಿಲ್ಲ. ಸುದ್ದಿ ಬಂದೊಡನೆ ನನಗೆ ಅನ್ನಿಸಿದ್ದಿಷ್ಟು: ಅರೆ, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಇಂಥ ಹೆಸರುಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರು ಎಳೆದಾಗಲೇ ನೆನಪಾಗೋದಾ?…….

೧೯೭೭ರಲ್ಲಿ ಜನತಾ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಯ ಸಂಸದರಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದಾಗ ಸಚಿವಸ್ಥಾನ ಅವರನ್ನು ಅರಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ನಯವಾಗಿ ತಿರಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದ ನಾನಾಜಿ ಮರುವರ್ಷವೇ, ೧೯೭೮ರಲ್ಲೇ ರಾಜಕೀಯದಿಂದ ನಿವೃತ್ತಿ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದರು. ಎಲ್ಲ ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳೂ ೬೦ ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಾದ ತಕ್ಷಣ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಸಮಾಜಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂಬುದು ಅವರ ನೀತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು; ದೃಢನಂಬುಗೆಯಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅದರಂತೆ ದಿಲ್ಲಿಯಲ್ಲೂ ಇರದೆ, ಮಧ್ಯಪ್ರದೇಶ – ಉತ್ತರಪ್ರದೇಶ ಗಡಿಭಾಗದ ಚಿತ್ರಕೂಟ – ಗೊಂಡಾ ಪ್ರದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗಿ ನೆಲೆಸಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಐನೂರು ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಜನಸಂಘದ ನೇತಾರ ಪಂಡಿತ ದೀನದಯಾಳರ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. ಈಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಏನೇನು ಪ್ರಗತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ನೀವು ನೋಡಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ ಅಲ್ಲಿಗೇ ಹೋಗಬಹುದು. ಮೊದಲ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಈ ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವರಗಳಿವೆ.

ಒಂದೇ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಉದಾಹರಣೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕೆಂದರೆ, ಆ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ೮೦ ಹಳ್ಳಿಗಳ ಜನ ಈಗ ಕೋರ್ಟು ಕಚೇರಿ ಎಂದು ಅಲೆಯುವುದೇ ಇಲ್ಲವಂತೆ. ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಕುಳಿತು ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕಂಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾರಂತೆ. ದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಪ್ರಥಮ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಇರುವುದೂ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯೇ! ಅಂದಮೇಲೆ ನಾನಾಜಿ ಎಂಥ ಶ್ರಮಜೀವಿ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ.

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Wednesday lavished praise on veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Nanaji Deshmukh, commending to the nation the litigation-free model of resolving disputes he had devised.

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Wednesday lavished praise on veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Nanaji Deshmukh, commending to the nation the litigation-free model of resolving disputes he had devised.

This model had ensured that the 80 villages around Chitrakoot in Madhya Pradesh where Deshmukh is based, ‘are almost litigation-free’, the president noted while delivering the 12th Justice Sunanda Bhadare Memorial Lecture here on ‘Judiciary and its multi-dimensions’.

‘In Chitrakoot, I met Nanaji Deshmukh and his team members belonging to the Deendayal Research Institute (DRI). DRI is a unique institution developing and implementing a village development model which is most suited for India,’ the president said.

‘Apart from all the development activities, the institute is facilitating a cohesive conflict free society. As a result of this, I understand that the 80 villages around Chitrakoot are almost litigation-free.

‘The villagers have unanimously decided that no dispute will find its way to court. The differences will be sorted out amicably in the village itself. The reason given by Nanaji Deshmukh is that if the people fight among each other, they have no time for development,’ the president added.

‘I consider that this model may be propagated in many parts of the country by societal organisations, judicial organisations and government,’ Kalam contended.

The prime need of the hour is to get over of this difficult situation. Therefore, being fully conscious of our constraints with our limited resources, we, the men and women of Deen Dayal Research Institute, have together dared to take steps to fulfill this need. On the borders of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh there is a small town called Chitrakoot. While in exile, Lord Ram started working for the upliftment of the downtrodden here. With this important historical and inspiring background, we have made Chitrakoot the centre of our work. We have selected five hundred small, neglected rural settlements. We have undertaken the task of ensuring the harmonious all round development of all the men, women and children of these settlements, without any discrimination. Our programme rests on the bedrock of self-development and self-initiative which are based on development programmes. The active co-operation of the selected villages is the source of our strength for our work. The encouraging co-operation of the people that we have received in the short period in our work has boosted the morale of our workers. This effort is setting an example of harmonious development not only for the different parts of our country, but also for newly independent countries as well. ೧೯೫೭ರಲ್ಲೇ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಜನಸಂಘ (ಇಂದಿನ ಭಾರತೀಯ ಜನತಾ ಪಾರ್ಟಿಗಿಂತ ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಪಾಲು ಪ್ರಾಮಾಣಿಕರೂ, ನೈಜ ದೇಶಭಕ್ತರೂ ಇದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಪಕ್ಷ; ಅದು ಈಗ ವಸ್ತುಶಃ – ಅದರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಆದರ್ಶಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ  – ಕಣ್ಮರೆಯಾಗಿದೆ,)ವು ಉತ್ತರಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲೂ ಘಟಕ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದರೆ ಅದರ ಕೀರ್ತಿ ನಾನಾಜಿಯವರಿಗೇ ಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ! ೧೯೬೮ರಲ್ಲೇ ಉತ್ತರ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಪ್ರಪ್ರಥಮ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸೇತರ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ರಚನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಾನಾಜಿ ದೇಶಮುಖ್ ಬಹುಮುಖ್ಯ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ೧೯೯೯ರಿಂದ ಆರು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರಪತಿಯವರು ನಾಮಕರಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ರಾಜ್ಯಸಭಾ ಸದಸ್ಯರೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದರು. ಸಮಾಜವಾದಿಗಳು, ಲೋಹಿಯಾ – ಎಲ್ಲರ ಜೊತೆಗೂ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡ ನಾನಾಜಿ ನಿಜವಾದ ಅರ್ಥದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಜಾತಶತ್ರುವಾಗಿದ್ದರು.

ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಎಂದೂ ವಿದೇಶಿ ನಿಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಈ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅವರ ವೆಬ್‌ಸೈಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಇದೆ:

Shri Nanaji believes that a nation or its constituent can never achieve an independent progress at the mercy of foreign funds. Shri Nanaji in spite of his several visits to foreign countries and easy accessibility to foreign funding agencies, never entertained the thought of raising money through these agencies. Time and again he stressed and is incessantly stressing this dictum. The resources required for every project, programme and endeavour of Deendayal Research Institute came from persons associated with or influenced by Deendayal Research Institute activities or from the Govt. of India. Thus Deendayal Research Institute under the leadership of Shri Nanaji stands as a unique Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to the service of our motherland in its own unique way.

ಇವತ್ತು ನಮ್ಮ ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಪಕ್ಷಗಳು ಹೇಗಿವೆ, ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಎಂಥ ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲ ನೋಡಿದರೆ, ನಾನಾಜಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಟು ನಿರ್ಧಾರ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಅದರಂತೆ ೩೨ ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ, (ಕೊನೆಯುಸಿರು ಇರುವವರೆಗೆ) ನಡೆದುಕೊಂಡರು ಎಂಬುದು ಎಂಥ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಎಂಬ ಅರಿವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಮೊನ್ನೆ ಅವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕುಸಿದಾಗಲೂ ಅವರು ದಿಲ್ಲಿಗೆ ಬರಲು ಒಪ್ಪಲಿಲ್ಲವಂತೆ.

ನಾನಾಜಿ ದೇಶಮುಖರಿಗೆ ಇದೊಂದು ಪುಟ್ಟ ಶ್ರದ್ಧಾಂಜಲಿ. ಅವರ ಕಾರ್ಯ ನನಗಂತೂ ಮಾದರಿ.
